Built in 1710, the Mansion House is the official residence of the Lord Mayor since 1713. The Lord Mayor, who is the first citizen of Dublin, is elected every July by the City Council from amongst its members. The term of office is one year. The first Irish Parliament adopted the Declaration of Independence here in 1919.
