Birthdayparty for mother, 90 years!
We had a terrific party for mother yesterday and children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, second cousins, friends and the leading lady herself all had a fabulous time!
I've put the pictures I took up on "PHOTOS". But to be quick I dropped the text. I'll put that in later, those who were there hopefully remember what happened. |

Happy 90th birthday, mother
Unbeleivable!
My mother is turning 90 - that's ninety - years today! She is a remarkable woman, living by herself and managing fine!
Here she is enjoying the afternoon sun in april, a couple of years back, on the terrace at my sister's place here in Oslo.
We're going to celebrate her tomorrow, thanks to my niece Øydis.
I love you, mother and wish you the best of luck and look forward to your 100th!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! |

Busy, busy
Lots to do at work, which is great, but no time to update Retrospekt.
Things will slow down in a few days, so come back and see for yourself! |

I'm back!
I'm back after 5 weeks of glorious holidays. It's good to be back at work again, but there will not be more vacationing until christmas! I will soon post my pictures from Scotland and Dublin in Retrophotos, but it will probably take a few more days. You can preview some of the pictures from Scotland here, here and here. I haven't made them available in Retrophotos yet, but soon.... |

Summer holidays!
I'm going on holiday tomorrow, on friday 25th. To Scotland for one week and then to Eire to visit my son, Thomas who is living and working (at Xerox) there, for 8 days. Then I have three more weeks off, but I haven't decided what to do in those weeks yet. Anyway, no work until 2. august!
Maybe I will post some entries and/or photographs, but it's highly unlikely.
Have a nice summer, see you in august! |

Nostalgia (revisited)
Yesterday, Synne, Erik and Marianne came around to view some old slides. Some of them dating 30 years back! It was quite an experience for all of us, it's been decades since I pulled out the slide projector and put up a screen to watch pictures.
I do own a flatbed scanner that can handle film, even though the quality is far away from the originals. So I scanned three pictures of the kids.
I would guess the picture of Thomas dates back to 1973-4, Synne's 1977 and Lene's 1974. I'm not quite sure because the index file (on paper of course) containing that information is unfortunately (at present) missing.
I really wish time wouldn't fly this fast!

It's over!
Yes, it's over. What? My christmas holiday! After 14 lazy days with good food, good booze, family, friends, late evenings and late mornings, it's over. At least for this holiday season. I had planned to read much this christmas, but I haven't actually opened a book!
My son, Thomas, went back to Dublin 1. january. He's coming back in february to attend a friend's marriage, so it won't be long this time.
But tomorrow the daily chores starts again. It's been snowing today, so there will most probably be totally chaos on the roads tomorrow. I'm glad that I can walk to work.
I managed at last to get to the ophthalmologist to get the necessary medicine for my iridocyclitis. It was difficult to find a doctor during the holidays, seems like they take all days off! (Like the rest of us?) |

Christmas!
My son, Thomas, came over from Dublin on the 24th to stay with me for a week and celebrate Christmas and New Years eve at home. This Christmas Eve we had the traditional christmas dinner at my nephew Wilhelm's home in Skedsmo together with his wife Siw, their two daughters Marthine and Amalie, my sister Turid and her husband Kaare and my mother.
It was a memorable night, excellent food and happy children. The pictures will be posted soon. Stay in touch! See the pictures.
On Christmas Day we had lunch at my sister's and my grandchildren Ronny and Ida was there with us. My youngest daughter unfortunately was not able to attend; she's got the flu. Get well soon, Synne!
Seems that christmas time is the only time of the year that families really can get together and relax and enjoy themselves without the stress that characterize the rest of the year.
This afternoon, my daughter Synne and her husband Erik invited me to watch "The Return of the King" together with a couple of their friends. I've read the book (some 30 years back) and seen the two previous movies. So this will be the end of living thru that particular experience to see what I visualized in my mind. The two first films was very impressive, let's hope the climax will be just as good as they were. I really look forward to it! |

Christmas approaching
It's a dreadful time of the year to be living up north. It's dark when you leave for work and dark when you go home. There's no snow in Oslo right now and it's getting colder. Fortunately we live below the arctic circle so at least we have some daylight during the day. Above it, they have the polar night. But the winter solstice is not far away, so the light (hopefully) will return.
And the Northern Light is particularly visible at this time of the year.
As of this friday afternoon, I'm on vacation and won't be back at work until 5. january, 2004. Puuuhh!
My son, Thomas, is coming over from Dublin on Christmas Eve and will stay until 1. january. That will be nice.
Maybe you ought to contemplate this during the holidays.
This ad for Miller Lite is worth seeing: Dominoes. (Via Big Action.)
But remember, people who drink Lite beer doesn't like the taste of beer. They just like to pee a lot.
There are lot of people out there who don't like president Bush very much. And Bushflash.com even has a song about it.
I put up a text on Words. |

Gossip?
Thers are some weeks that pass by when nothing happens and some where the events are stacked. The coming weeks are (fortunately?) of the last kind. I don't believe in horoscopes, but I am getting kind of worried rading this in Bob Brezny's "Free Will Astrology":
"There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about," wrote Libran Oscar Wilde, "and that is not being talked about." You won't have to worry about the latter problem in the next two weeks. The number of discussions about your character and behavior will probably exceed that of any other 14-day period in the past five years. Fortunately, the astrological indicators suggest that a relatively high percentage of the gossip flying around will be benevolent and even flattering. It will be a good time, therefore, for a marketing campaign or networking blitz. |
